Facebook for Business Sets a New Bar for Custom Audience Targeting with Offline Customer Data

All of those offline leads that you thought were cold in the ground now have new life thanks to Facebook for Business. A new custom audience interface has been released that will allow you to use offline customer data to target online (think direct mail lists). This update is being rolled out gradually over several weeks, but early adopters have seen a 54% match success to their offline customer list using just name, city, state, and zip code.

Right now Facebook custom audience targeting allows you to reach your existing customer list if you have their e-mail address by uploading a .CSV (or retarget website visitors captured by a pixel). This basically means that if you have a customer list with only names and addresses, you couldn’t reach these customers online and furthermore, you couldn’t create a look-a-like audience from this list. This new feature, however, allows you to use lists that contain only offline data to find your current customers online and create a look-a-like audience to expand your potential qualified leads.
